# Your first 15 minutes

> A short checklist to get your Venue ready before the first guest walks in.

Your Venue is created and you have owner access. This is the shortest path to something guests will actually find useful.

Work through it in order — later steps depend on earlier ones.

## 1. Check your branding

**Local tab → pencil icon**

Local filled this in automatically from your business listing. Confirm:

* **Venue name** — as guests would recognise it
* **Logo** and **cover image** — the cover is the first thing a guest sees on entering
* **Business category** — sets your default gamification levels and thresholds
* **Facebook Page URL** — optional

<Tip>
  Fix the business category now if it is wrong. It is the one field that is awkward to change later, because it moves the point thresholds for guests who have already earned XP.
</Tip>

## 2. Switch on the services you will actually use

**Local tab → Services for users**

Four toggles. Turning one on puts it on the guest home page; tapping the row opens its configuration.

| Service | Turn it on if |
| - | - |
| **Menu** | You sell food or drink, or have a price list worth showing |
| **Leave us feedback** | You want star ratings and comments from people who were definitely there |
| **Contact Staff** | You are willing to answer messages — guests can chat with staff or leave a note |
| **Map** | Your Venue is large enough that people get lost |

<Warning>
  Do not switch on **Contact Staff** until someone is prepared to answer. Guests who message staff and get silence form a worse impression than if the option had never been there.
</Warning>

## 3. Build your menu

**Local tab → Menu**

The fastest route is the AI import: photograph your existing printed menu and let Local parse it into categories and items. Otherwise upload menu images, or build it item by item with name, description and price.

Items carry a name, description and price. There are no item photos, allergen fields or dietary labels today.

## 4. Create one coupon

**Business tab → Coupons**

Even if you are not running loyalty yet, having one coupon ready means your staff can reward someone on the spot from day one.

  Fields, distribution, and the two-minute redemption window your staff needs to understand.
</Card>

## 5. Post something in the Contents Hub

**Business tab → Contents Hub**

An empty home page looks abandoned. Publish one item — a service you offer, an upcoming event, or a short announcement — so arriving guests see something.

The Magic AI wand will fill most of it from a link to your website or a Facebook event.

## 6. Decide on alerts and sentiment

**Business tab → Operations and Analytics**

**Real-Time Alerts** and **Sentiment** are both off by default.

Real-Time Alerts is the one with immediate operational value: it watches public conversations and guest quick notes for complaints — queues, cleanliness, music too loud — and pushes them to staff while the guest is still on the premises and the problem is still fixable.

<Tip>
  Turn on Real-Time Alerts before your first busy night, not after. The whole point is catching a complaint before it becomes a public review, and that only works if it is already running.
</Tip>

## 7. Test as a guest

Walk into your Venue with a phone that is not signed in as an admin and confirm it enters your Venue's space.

Your admin account will not test this — admins skip presence verification.

## What you can leave for later

* **Loyalty program** — needs a coupon to give away, and guests to give it to
* **Gamification rewards** — meaningful once people have started earning XP
* **Venue maps** — only if your space warrants it
* **Jukebox** — on-demand; contact Local support, then connect your Spotify account
* **Gated zone rooms** — requires beacons
